A Winter's Day at the... Beach?

Winter may be drawing to a close, but the chilly weather and icy winds than Winter entails aren't quite ready to depart just yet. So, obviously, when its blowing a gail and temperatures are lingering around the lower end of the thermometer, I decide to go to the beach. Thats right; the beach. The destination of sunshine, ice creams and sandcastles. The place that is normally swamped with tourists and sun-seekers was more so a place of peace and serenity today, with merely a few people in sight. It was wonderful. The sea was breath-taking; the waves crashing and toppling on top of one another. It felt really strange to walk on sand and watch the waves in the month of February - a month when you would normally never dream of visiting the beach. But, it was good fun nonetheless, and I even managed to snap a few photos to share with you all. So, here we go!

I am a huge lover of the sea - it's just so mystifying and intriguing. I'm one of those people who could sit and watch the sea all day long - I just love it. Throwing a little seaside visit into our family outing was lovely today, along with a chippy lunch and a quick walk along the pier. Ah, don't you just love Sunday's?

Hopefully you enjoyed this little post, despite the fact it wasn't a full-blown beauty babble as normal. Thanks for reading & speak soon!

Polka Dot Ribbon Jars | Makeup Brush Storage

As a general beauty fanatic and the owner of a rather extensive collection of makeup brushes, I am always looking for cute ways to store my stash. When this collides with my love of both polka dots and bows, you get a darn cute way of storing makeup brushes. Today, I am going to show you how I store my makeup brushes in recycled glass jars, with a little added touch for the aesthetic side of things. There isn't much depth to this post really, I just thought it would be nice to snap a few pictures and pop them up for you to have a gander. I guess you could say I was having a spontaneous photography session, why not ey?

I popped a few of my eyeshadow brushes into this smaller glass jar, to give you a feel of how it looks. This jar is a curry paste jar that I have (very) thoroughly washed out. Reusing and recycling glass jars is a great idea, as not only is it jolly good for the environment, it also means you can store your brushes in a cheap yet effective way. Just to add a little more pizzazz to the jar, I tied some polka dot ribbon around the rim and secured it in a bow at the front. I simply adore anything with a bow on it, and I think it adds a super cute and girly touch to my dressing table. These cute little DIY jars can be used to store so many things, be it makeup brushes, toothbrushes, hair combs, or even sweeties if you're letting your sweet tooth take control. I love how these jars look and will definitely be collecting more from my kitchen over the next few weeks to make more.

The next jar was one I bought ready made, which could be more suited to you if DIY's aren't really your thing. I actually received this as a Christmas present, and I believe it was from our local garden centre. It has a bark-like coating around the outside of the jar, with  two little heart shaped gaps at the front. The red and white polka dot bow gives a very Minnie Mouse-esque to the jar, which, as a Disney lover, makes me rather happy. It also has a shiny red heart charm threaded onto the ribbon. Bigger jars like this one work a dream for storing face brushes, as they tend to have bigger handles, thus requiring bigger storage. If you're a person with a creative initiative, then I'm pretty sure you could create a jar on the fancier side of things just like this one.

I love finding cute ways to store my brushes, and really am very fond of these little jars. What's your favourite way to store makeup brushes? Thanks for reading!

Lush-tastic Friday #7 | Space Girl Bath Ballistic

Its Friday again! The day we all know and love as the best of the week. It's also Valentine's day, so, happy Valentine's day! I was considering replacing this week's Lush-tastic Friday post with soemthing a little more 'love' themed. But, alas, my inspiration was low, and no jaw-dropping ideas sprung to mind when I pondered about Valentine's festivities. So, may it be to your excitement or dismay, Lush-tastic Friday #7 shall go ahead, regardless of this whole Valentine's malarkey. Today's post shall revolve around the wonder that is the Space Girl Bath Ballistic. Ooh yeah.

This bath ballistic creates a rather aesthetically pleasing explosion of violet and scarlett when dropped into the tub. It begins to fizz immediately, distributing the two colours in a swirl amongst the bath. Once it has completely dissolved amongst the water, you are left with a very intriguing, pastel-violet bath. It also smells amazing - a scent with slight similarities to that of palma violets.

Overall, this sweet-smelling space shuttle equated to a rather nice bath indeed. It definitely gives a slightly more subtle outcome than you would predict upon gazing at the sparkly, duo-colour space ship, which is good if you don't like your bath to be overly 'va va voom'. Its particularly nice if you like your bath bombs to put on quite the show upon being popped in the water, yet be left with a relaxing and calm tub of water.

Have you ever tried this bath bomb? Thanks for reading!

Classic Red Valentine's Nails | Chanel Rouge Rubis

Its no secret that Valentine's day is nearly upon is. With an abundancy of red roses and heart shaped chocolates filling up every shop known to mankind,  there is no hiding from the Valentine's festivities. With the rather noticeable theme of red and pink attached to the season, its only expected that a girl should adjust her nails to match the occasion. So, out came my Chanel Rouge Rubis nail polish, and onto the nails it went. Red is such a classy colour for this time of year, and Chanel is such a classy brand. So, when you put two and two together, you get an all-classy, all-red bonanza.

There's just something so sophisticated about red - it has a true elegance about it. This particular polish is a lovely formula (the classic Chanel we all know and love), and gives a beautiful, shiny effect when on the nails. It is a true red, with not too many of those sometimes-slightly-annoying pink undertones. Its the perfect colour for Valentines day and helps you slot your way into the festivities - no matter how you're spending Valentine's this year.

Hopefully you enjoyed this post. Sorry it wasn't such a bigg'en, I'm running a little low on blog inspiration lately. So, please, do leave a suggestion or two in the comments for posts you wish to see. It would be oh so helpful. I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's!

Lush-tastic Friday #6 | Honey Bee Bath Ballistic

I'm feeling rather chirpy today due to a 'it's Friday!' kind of mood, that appears to have been lingering throughout the day. I just love Friday, and everything it entails. I can't be the only one that brands the fifth day of the week to be my favourite - in fact, I am yet to meet someone who isn't in favour of the Friday cheer.

So, when my love of Friday collides with my love of Lush, its obvious what happens - a blog feature. Oh yeah. Lush-tastic Friday #6 is here and ready to roll. This week, I used the Honey Bee Bath Ballistic for the first time, and of course, photographed away as it transformed my bath into something rather wonderful. So, lets get straight into the exciting part.

After dropping this vibrant sphere of wonder into the water, I was presented with an explosion of yellow fizz, dispersing its colour throughout the tub. I personally was rather thrilled at the sight of this, as yellow is one of my favourite colours - its the colour of happiness in my opinion. It continued to fizz until the once-yellow-sphere was no longer a structure, but instead, dissolved and swirling around my tub, smelling somewhat rather heavenly.

One thing that I was pleasantly surprised about when using this bath bomb, is that it doesn't smell like honey. I hate honey; the smell, the taste - it just makes me sick. Considering this is the 'Honey Bee' bath ballistic, it would be almost expected that along with the name would come a suited aroma. But no, rather, it smelt delicious. Fresh, floral, yet slightly sweet. I must say - it smelt darn right lovely, and left my skin (and my bathroom) smelling so yummy.

After bathing in the wonder that is the Honey Bee bath ballistic, my skin was left feeling moisturised, soft, and silky - as with every Lush product I use.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this bath bomb, if you are looking for a simple yet lovely bath. Its perhaps not as extravagant and exciting as a few of the others that are available, but it makes for a lovely bath, and has a beautiful refreshig scent - perfect for a little pick me up pamper session. Next time your in Lush, give this little wonder a sniff and maybe even give it a try.

Have you ever used this bath bomb? What did you think? Thanks for reading!

Chanel Glossimer Lip Gloss | 166 Amour

Well, I splurged again. I really do need to learn to steer away from those ever-so-irresistable high end makeup counters. I go, I swatch, I swoon, I buy. As simple as that. There's just something so special about high end makeup that I, for some reason, find it too hard to resist. This week, I somehow ended up at the Chanel counter, and slowly but surely found myself in a deep conversation of persuasion with the assisstant. Then, bam. I somehow walked away with a new lip gloss. I can most definitely say I feel very happy with my new purchase, and have fallen somewhat into a deep trance of adoration with my new little lippie.

As always, its an orange shade. Its almost a little too predictable now, isn't it? Orange, orange, orange. There's no denying I own a fair few items of the shade, but, I just love the colour. This lip gloss is more of a coral I would say. It does show up rather pinky on the pictures, but it is a little more peach-toned in real life. Anyway, it is a coral-peach colour, and has vast ammounts of shimmer, prettily-scattered amongst the product. I'm not normally one for a whloe lot of shimmer, but this is an exception. When on the lips, it's delicate particles of shimmer distribute evenly across the lips, giving a wonderful glow and a slight iridescence to the lips. This also makes your teeth look a little whiter, which is always a brucy bonus with any lip product. The one tting about this gloss that cintinues to amaze me, os the formula. It lasts so long on my lips, yet doesn't feel overly sticky or gloopy. It's smooth, moisturising and has an amazing staying power, therefore, I think its safe to say it gets a thumbs up on the formula front. It doesn't really have a distinctive taste, making it a pleasant gloss to wear. No nasty taste, or over-powering sweet scent. Its just a very lovely colour, with a very lovely formula - what's not to love? (Possibly the price tag of £21... But, then again, for a luxurious high end product, it is expected).

Argh! Apologies for the out of focus shot.. So annoying.

I can't quite express how wonderfully gorgeous this gloss is, and I am so happy it has filled a spot in my makeup stash. I can tell it is going to be making a vast amount of appearances on my lips in the near future, particularly with Spring on its way.
