Hello my lovelies,
You may (or may not) be happy to see that today's post is another review. Either way, I hope you enjoy reading it, and hopefully it will help you out in one way or another. The Naked 2 Palette is considered quite a splurge, and I understand that before forking out big bucks for some eyeshadow, you will most probably like to read copious amounts of reviews of this product, and quite rightly so. Therefore, I thought it would be a suitable product to review for you guys.
The Naked 2 Palette is a staple product in my collection, and I use it on a regular basis. I love the variation in the palette. Whether you need colours for a neutral or a smokey eye, you can't really go wrong with this handy little 12 colour palette. It's sturdy metal casing and double ended brush makes it ideal for travelling, and saves you from having to pack multiple little fiddly eyeshadows that are at high risk of breaking when on the go. With 9 shimmer shades, and 3 matte ones, this palette is perfect for everyone. Each and every one of the colours is insanely pigmented, which I am sure you'll be happy to hear. Also, the palette comes with a miniture Urban Decay lipgloss, which is just a 'your lips but better' shade that tastes rather minty, really.
The colours in this palette (from left to right) go by the names of:
Foxy, Half Baked, Bootycall, Chopper, Tease, Snakebite, Suspect, Pistol, Verve, YDK, Busted and Blackout. I decided it would be best to give individual mini reviews of each colour for you guys, so here goes.
1) Foxy (matte)
Foxy is probably one of my most used colour from the palette, as it is perfect as a base colour for any eye shadow look, and works well as a brow bone highlight (if you prefer a matte colour for this, anyway). I would describe it as your typical cream coloured eye shadow, that is perfect for everyday use. There isn't much else to say about Foxy, really, it's just a perfect matte cream colour for the lid.
2) Half Baked
I believe this shade is included in both the Naked and the Naked 2 palette, so Urban Decay obviously agree with me that this eyeshadow is AMAZING! I love, love, love it. Half Baked is a beautiful shimmering gold colour, that really compliments blue eyes. It works well all year round, and can be adapted to suit any season. This eyeshadow and a bit of red lippy makes the perfect Christmas look, but switch the red for a coral and it works fabulously in summer, too. This colour is definitely my favourite from the palette.
3) Bootycall
This beautiful shimmery shade looks lovely all over the lid, and also works like a dream in the inner corner, and also on the brow bone. Nothing better than a multi-purpose eyeshadow. Its peachy undertones compliment every eye colour, which is another bonus to this eyeshadow. The golden specks throughout the shade give a classy, warm eye look, without being a full on gold. I love this eyeshadow, and recommend it a lot.
4) Chopper
Chopper is a beautiful eyeshadow. I would describe it as a shimmery pinky peach, although it is probably more glittery than shimmery. The golden undertones in this palette make blue eyes pop, and I'm sure it would look just as lovely on other eyes, too, I'm just going off personal experience (I have blue eyes). I would compare Chopper to the ever so famous 'All That Glitters' by MAC, however its a little darker, and more pink. I find it works hand in hand with 'Quarry' by MAC, through the crease. In case you wondered, Quarry is a purply grey colour, so any colour of that sort would look rather dashing with Chopper, probably. Overall, I love Chopper, and think you should all give it a whirl.
5) Tease
Tease is my favourite colour for the crease from the palette, and as it is a matte, brownish taupe, it tends to look great with any lid colour. I use Tease on quite a regular basis, and I particularly enjoy wearing it along side a sweeping of Half Baked across my lid. I think Tease would look great on any eye colour really, as it is a very versatile eyeshadow, that just works well with everything. Love, love, love it.
6) Snakebite
As we move further to the right of the palette, I must confess, I do strugggle to branch out of my comfort zone and use the colours from Snakebite onwards. The colours tend to get a little smokier, and for me personally, being a neutral/warm shadow girl, I find it difficult to make the colours look good. The truth is, I'm a little sloppy with smokey eyes, or in other words, not very good at them. I usually make myself look like I have a black eye, which isn't a great look. But anyway, Snakebite is still a really lovely colour. Its a shimmery, hazel-green, which I think would look amazing on brown or green eyes. I do sometimes try to use this eye shadow, but I don't use it on a regular basis. That's not to say I dislike it, though.
7) Suspect
This one is a difficult colour to describe, but I'll give it a shot anyway. I would describe Suspect as a golden brownish-grey. It is a shimmery colour and is really quite lovely. It would be nice if I tried to use this colour a little more - as I can't remember the last time I wore it... Oops. It is definitely a more wintery shade, so as we enter Autumn and build up to Winter, this eyeshadow shall hopefully be worn on my eyes a little more... Fingers crossed.
8) Pistol
This dark, greenish grey colour is rather similar to Snakebite, minus the gold tones. Again, I can't say I have worn this shade too often, which is unfortunate, but again, I am hoping this shimmery shadow will have its chance to shine on my lids as we step into the festive season. Hurray!
9) Verve
This beautiful Silver colour looks great all over the lid, and its such a festive colour, in my oppinion. I have a feeling I will be sporting this eye shadow on my lids throughout the month of December, and the festive season. If you are any good at smokey eyes (if you are, then I am rather jealous), then this would look amazing with a dark purple blended through the crease, or, if you are brave enough, maybe even black. As long as you blend, blend, blend, then black could look really fabulous with Verve. Why not give it a go and tweet/instagram me a picture?
10) YDK
YDK, a purely amazing eye shadow. It just screams 'wow' when ever I see it. The very shimmery, almost glittery, bronze colour is the perfect party colour, and would look wondeful on New Years Eve or a Christmas do, or any party/night out in general, really. Its definitely a colour you would have to experiment with a little, however, I think it looks great blended all over the lid, and up into the crease. Providing you blend it out, it will look great. Its one of those looks that looks like it has been done by a professional, when actually, you just sort of threw it on within 2 minutes or so. Quick, easy, with a glamorous outcome. Just what everybody wants.
11) Busted
Busted is an amazing deep purple colour, which would work well with so many different eye colours. It looks great with Verve, when blended through the crease. Again, you could het away with wearing this all over the eye, providing you blended, and it would give a similar look as YDK... Very professional, when really it was very easy. If you are only using it as a crease colour, then please be warned you do not need a lot on your brush, a small dab in the pan should be sufficient. Remember, you can always add more! This is a very important rule with eye shadow, particularly for the next colour...
12) Blackout
In case your still oblivious, and haven't already guessed by the name, then Blackout is a Black eyeshadow. Admittedly, its going to be tricky to describe, as black eyeshadow is black eyeshadow at the end of the day. All I can say really, is that it is a very good quality black. Meaning, its very pigmented, please note the emphasis on the word 'very', there. I prefer to use this to set my eye liner with, which I don't do on a regular basis, only if its a gel liner, usually. If you are going to wear this as eyeshadow, then I would be very careful with your brush. Don't go swirling your brush around in this like a mixing bowl, because I promise you, 'less is more' could not be more true in this situation. A tiny dabble in the eye shadow should do you to start with, and you can always build up the colour as you please. A very handy, matte eye shadow to own, is Blackout.
So, I guess the big question is, would I recommend the Naked 2 Palette. The answer is yes, I think its a very handy little palette to have in your collection, as their is a very wide range of colours, for neutral and smokey eyes. If you aren't a fan of smokey eyes at all, then its probably not worth it, as such, as there are more smokey colours than warm colours. If you are a warm eyes kind of girl (or boy, even) then I think the Naked palette is probably more appropriate for you. I would fit into that category, too, but I like to know I have smokier colours there for when or if I need them. It also teaches you to branch out every now and then and have a little play around with colours you wouldn't normally touch. So I guess you just have to decide whether or not you would use enough of the colours to justify paying £37/$50 for the palette. I personally love owning this palette, and the variation in colours it provides.
Sorry for the lengthy post - but thank you very much for reading! More posts on the way soon!
