(The lipsticks are in no particular order)
1) Chatterbox (Amplified finish)
I have a lot of love for this lippy, and if you are familiar with the colour, you will completely understand why, I'm sure! I would describe this lipstick as a muted hot pink, not too bright, but not too pale, either. Its what I would class as the 'perfect pink', and every MAC lover needs to have it in their collection. I'm not the greatest at describing the colour in too much detail, so I would recommend having a gander at the MAC website, where you might recieve a more 'on point' describtion of the colour. As far as the colour pay off goes, I think its spot on. The pigmentation of this lipstick is insane! Just fabulous. So fabulous, in fact, I find myself applying lip balm under it, just to tone it down a little. The lip balm also helps keep your lips moisturized when wearing lipsticks, which brings me onto my next point. If there is one thing I would say about MAC lipsticks, it would be that they aren't particularly moisturizing. However, I find this is consistant throughout pretty much every lipstick I try. Maybe I'm just picky, or maybe I just like moisturized lips, but either way, its nothing personal to MAC lipsticks, I just like my lips to be rather soft.
2) Pink Plaid (Matte finish)
One of my older MAC lipsticks, therefore one of my most loved, and most used. Its Pink Plaid. This lipstick holds a special place in my heart (I'd just like to take a moment to sincerely thank my best friend Eden for introducing me to this fantabulous lippy, and thank goodness you did!) this is definitely my go-to everyday lipstick, as it just goes with everything. No matter if you are sporting a smokey eye, a neutral eye, pink blush, coral blush, I can gurantee you Pink Plaid will go hand in hand with the look. I would describe this as a pink, with slightly lilac undertones. It also has a sense of nude to it, and is just the perfect nude pink. The blue-ish lilac undertones give the illusion of whiter teeth - which is always a brucey bonus with lipsticks! Despite this lipstick being a matte finish, it never dries flakey or crackly on the lips, providing you take on my tip of using lip balm beneath it. I highly, highly recommend this lipstick, especially if your just starting out with makeup, or looking for the perfect 'first lipstick' from MAC.
3) Vegas Volt (Amplified finish)
Vegas Volt. A spontaneous Duty Free purchase of mine before jetting off to Tenerife last year. And I can assure you, it isn't an 'in the moment' purchase I regret. This lipstick is amazing, particularly if your a fan or orange, like me. (Although, I must admit I'm not particularly fond of orange foundation... Just to clear that up ;). This lipstick looks gorgeous on everybody, and it is such a perfect colour for Autumn/Fall - which is conveniently just around the corner, which means endless days of wearing this gorgeous colour on my lips, yay! I would describe this colour as a fiery orange, that isn't too over powering. The consistency is similar to the others, but I don't want to keep dragging on about the whole lip balm thing, so lets just say that rule applies to all the lipsticks I'll be discussing. It works lovely with MACs lip liner in Lasting Sensation, if you were wondering. One negative point about this product is that it has a tendancy to make your teeth look a little, well, off colour. Or in other words, yellowish. Although, most orange lipsticks have this factor in common, so its nothing personal to Vegas Volt really. However, a thick layer of lip balm (I recommend Nivea's lip butter in Original) will make the colour a little fainter, and therefore prevents the whole yellow teeth situation developing into something too disastrous. Overall, a very pretty lippy that is percect for Autumn, yay for orange!
4) Please Me (Matte finish)
This one is fairly similar to Pink Plaid, being of the same finish and colour, but a little more pink. Whereas Pink Plaid has the purply undertones, Please Me has more brownish undertones. This lipstick is perfect for everyday looks, and looks fabulous just on its own, or with a touch of lip gloss over the top. It really just depends whether you prefer to wear it matte, or glossy. If you are a beginner with MAC, or just makeup in general, then Please Me is definitely a lippy to check out. It's just perfect for anybody really, and in my oppinion, would compliment a whole range of skintones. There isn't really much to say about Please Me, its just such a lovely lippy that definitley earns the lime light it deserves from a lot of beauty gurus on YouTube (it has proven a rather popular product over the years). Just a gorgeous, girly, pink lipstick really.
5) Costa Chic (Frost finish)
Costa Chic, another member of my orange lipstick collection, however, I would describe this one as more of a coral. I recieved this lipstick as a gift at Christmas, and I love it, alot. It's a difficult one to describe to you, as it is such a unique shade, but obviously, I shall give it a go. Costa Chic is a beautiful coral colour, with a few different undertones to it. It definitely has a slight tinge of Pink to it, and once applied, has a sort of iridescence about it. I understand it is a frost finish, and therefore does give quite a frosty look to your lips, but I wouldn't say its too much of a problem, even if a frosty finish isn't really your thing. It just makes your lips look a little shimmery, really. Thats all. It also has a beautiful golden undertone to it when it is on your lips, making it look fabulous with a tan. Once again, as every other orange lipstick has the tendancy to do, Costa Chic does unfortunately make your teeth look a little discoloured, but its nothing too extreme. I guess its just in the orange lippy nature. But nevertheless, it is a lovely colour that compliments a wide range of skintones and is great for a pop of colour in the summer.
So there you have it. My top 5 MAC lipsticks. I would definitely recommend having a little swatch party with these lipsticks next time your at a MAC counter, and if you do happen to pick any of these colours up, let me know! Also, I would love to know what your MAC lipstick faves are, as I am always keen to discover new lipsticks.
I hope this post helped you in some way, as I understand that when you are faced with rows and rows of never ending lipsticks at the MAC counter, it can be a little daunting (particularly if you are a newbie to MAC). Thank you guys for reading, andplease feel free to leave requests for future posts in the comments.
