Obviously, I carry out my regular skin regime, which includes applying a generous layer of moisturizer before my makeup, to ensure my skin stays hydrated and protected all day long. If you would like a whole blog post on my skin care routine, then please leave a comment below! Anyway, on with the post.
Of course, we can't forget the mascara. If I am being completely honest, I don't really have a preference as to what mascara I use. However, recently, I have been using the Benefit They're Real mascara. I love this mascara as you only need a couple of coats to achieve a really natural yet defined lash look. I also love to use the Clinique High Impact mascara. But as I say, there is no particular mascara that is better for school than others, just stick to a couple of coats and you should be fine. If you feel as though getting away with mascara would be quite the task at your school, then try using a brown or a clear mascara for a slightly more natural look.
Personally, I don't like to wear foundation, as I find it makes my skin breakout. Therefore, concealer is definitely my preference, and it also looks really natural on the skin which is a bonus for this subtle look. Obviously, if you prefer foundation, then use foundation - just apply whatever you feel your skin needs, really. I use the Collection (used to be Collection 2000) Lasting Perfection Concealer on all of my blemishes, imperfections and redness; and it covers all of them exceptionally well. I love, love, love this concealer - and for a mere £4.19, you can't really go wrong. Although, the writing on the packaging doesn't seem to stick around for long, it rubs off pretty swiftly after the firsty few uses, but hopefully that doesn't bother you too much. I also use this under my eyes to correct darkness. I wear the shade 2 for blemishes and under my eyes, however, some people may prefer to use a shade lighter for the under eye area to add a highlight effect. I buff my concealer in using the Real Techniques Expert Face brush, £9.99, and its the perfect combination if you ask me.
Next, I use a powder to control any shine on my skin. My favourite powder is the MAC Studio Fix Powder, in the shade NW25. This powder gives a really nice effect on your skin, and mattifies shine really well. It also gives an exceptionally good coverage for a powder which is great, however I guess it should be expected considering the price. I can't remember exactly how much this product is, but it is around about the £20 mark. I apply this product using a Real Techniques Powder brush, £12.99.
Using the e.l.f Eyebrow Kit, I then fill in my eyebrows. I wear the shade 'Light' in this product, and apply it using an angled brush by Ruby & Millie. I absolutely love this product, and as you can most probably tell by the picture, I use it a lot. I think it has seen better days at the moment, as it is looking a bit worse for wear. Its just well loved, that's all. This product is pretty hard to get hold of, as it is mostly out of stock on the UK e.l.f website, so its worth checking back to the website regularly. It costs £3.75 which I personally think is a complete and utter bargain for this fantastic product. I use the powder through my eyebrows, and sometimes use the wax on the ends of my eyebrows to give them a bit of length as I have unusually short eyebrows at the ends. I then use a clear mascara by 17, to hold my eyebrows in place for the day.
Depending on my mood, I will either apply blusher or bronzer. I usually like to wear MAC's Pink Swoon blush, £17.50, or NARS Laguna Bronzer, £25. If I opt for the blusher on a particular day, then I apply it using the e.l.f complexion Brush, £3.75. This brush applies the blush really lightly, and the colour leaves a lovely flushed finish on your cheeks. For the bronzer, I use a range of different brushes. For a more natural look, I either use the same brush as I use for my blusher, or, the Real Techniques Blush Brush, £10.99. If I am aiming for a more defined bronzer look, then I use the e.l.f Mineral Powder Brush, £3.75. This bronzer is a really natural looking shade, and if you don't mind splurging £25 on a bronzer, then it is definitely worth a shot.
Finally, I apply lip balm. At the moment, I am loving the Maybelline Baby Lips. Usually, I will use the shade 'Peach Kiss', and then top up throughout the day with the shade 'Hydrate'. Peach Kiss isreally natural looking but adds a slight hint of colour and a high shine to your lips.
So thats it. My everyday makeup routine for school. Hopefully you found it helpful, and you can take tips from this post to use in your own school makeup look. As I say, its a super natural look, and I definitely think you can get away with it for school.
