Happy Halloween!

It's finally here; the 31st October. Or in other words... Halloween! After weeks of excitement and anticipation, I'm so happy the spookalicious festival is finally upon us. The arrival of Halloween obviously warrants a blog post, so I thought I would put together a little something within my little interent space right here about Halloween. So here it is - a little montage of my Halloween activities & other Halloweeny bits and bobs from this year, hurray!

Image created using Papelook.

Sticking with the typical Halloween tradition, I obviously kicked of my Halloween celebrations with a good ol' pumpkin carving session. My brother and I carved a pumpkin each, and I must say - it was good fun. I always look foward to pumpkin carving, and each year, - being the creative soul that I am- I spend a great deal of time pondering over how my little pumpkin friend shall be made to look. Scary, cute, humorous - the ideas are endless. Last year, I recall my pumpkin having eyelashes and a pink hair bow... Well, lets be real - you wouldn't expect anything less from a beauty blogger, would you?! Here are some photos from this years pumpkin carving fun.

How they all start off...

It's safe to say I ws squirming slightly at this part... yuck!

Pumpkin guts!

Very neat outlining there Mollie... *claps slowly*

A rather jolly looking pumpkin!

Redy for action! (Mine is on the left, my brother's is on the right!)

Being the beauty enthusiast that I am, it was obviously completely essential to ensure my nails fit accordingly with the spooky celebrations. So out came the black and orange nail polish, and on to my nails they went. I used my beloved Essie Fear & Desire nail polish, along with one of my mother's Chanel polishes, in the shade Black Satin.

As for my costume, I decided to dress up as a Dead Fairy... it sounds spookier than it really is! I paired a black tutu with some ripped tights, a pair of black wings, black boots and a spooky necklace. I then backcombed my hair as much as possible, which was quite the challenge after using a deep conditoning treatment on my hair this morning... smart move. It was then time for makeup... the best part, in my opinion. I created a black smokey eye look, and paired it with a dark, vampy lipstick. I then filled in my eyebrows with a black eyeshadow, and dusted my face with a white iridescent eyeshadow. The iridescence gives the effect of a 'once glittery fairy, now spooky dead thing' type of look... if you get where I'm coming from! The outfit as a whole looked pretty good, if I must say so myself. Here's a snap of the completed look.

My eyebrows are certainly very... Erm... Bold... Haha

All in all, I would like to wish you all a fantastic and spookalicious (is that even a word?) Halloween. Hopefully lots of treats and not so many tricks will come your way! I hope you enjoyed this little insight into my Halloween fun this year, and may your Halloween celebrations and activities be fun-filled and memorable. Happy Halloweeeeeeeeen!

Benefit They're Real Mascara | Review

Looking for a mascara that lengthens, thickens, and volumises your lashes? Then look no further - Benefit's They're Real Mascara is at your service!

We all love to have long & luscious lashes, and I'm sure all you beauty lovers out there will agree that finding the perfect mascara can be quite the task. There are so many out there on the beauty market, and it can take a long while of buying and trying before you find the perfect one. But hey, isn't that what I'm here for? To recommend the great stuff to you, and share with you my beauty advise? Therefore, I shall tell you know, that the Benefit They're Real Mascara is somewhat rather fabulous. I understand that different products work differently for other people, but this mascara has certainly served me well; and if the rather grand price tag on this beauty staple doesn't phase you too much, then I would recommend giving this mascara a shot. I understand £19.50 is quite extortionate for a mascara, so if anybody knows of any dupes for this mascara, then please do enlighten us all in the comments below!

Here are some shots of this mascara on my lashes:

The first shot is a little freaky - I promise my eyes aren't that beady in real life! Haha!

Now, I will admit, my lashes are naturally on the lengthy side, but this mascara still lengthens and volumises them beyond belief. It also gives them a very black and thick look, resulting in a lot of inquisitive people questioning the 'real-or-fake' aspect of my lashes. I often get asked if I am wearing false lashes, so I think it's safe to say this mascara does it's job more than adequately.

The mascara wand is a plastic bristles one, which isn't to everybody's liking, I know. In fact, before I had tried this mascara, I often dismissed mascaras with plastic wands - who knows why. However, the wand on the mascara is amazing. It grips each lash individually, distributing the product evenly over each and every little eyelash. It has a little mini applicator on the end, shaped as a ball. I often use this little end piece to grip the lashes at the very inner and outer corners of my lash line.

Overall, I highly recommend this mascara, and would advise everyone to try this at some point. Thank you for reading!

Weekend Nails | Essie's Fear & Desire

Something you may or may not know about me is that I love orange; particularly when it comes to makeup. And by makeup I mean blushers, lipsticks, nail polish etc - not orange foundation... I tend to avoid that one for obvious reasons. Anyway, when pondering over which colour I would paint my nails this weekend, I caught sight of my beloved Essie Nail Polish in Fear & Desire, hidden deep within my rather excessive collection of nail polishes. I haven't worn this polish in a long time, and I must admit, I had forgotten all about the true love I have for this colour. I decided it had suffered from enough neglection over the past few months, and decided it was time for this lovely polish to be back in the spotlight.

Some may say this is a summery colour, however I think orange can work well in Autumn, too. I love how opaque the colour looks on the nails, and the lasting power of this polish is amazing. It didn't chip at all throughout the time it was on my nails, which was only a mere two days, as unfortunately school are very 'anti-nail polish'. Bummer. However, In the past when I have worn this polish, I have found it to last several (4-5) days without chipping, so it definitely does have a good formula.

Sorry this was such a short post, but I thought it might be a nice idea to regularly update you about what nail polishes I am loving at the moment, after all - who doesn't love a good nail polish. Thank you guys for reading! Bye!

My Favourite Product Tag!

Recently, I was tagged by the most lovely Kerry from Kerry's Habitat to do the 'Favourite Products Tag'. A huge thank you to Kerry for tagging me, and I hope all of my wonderful readers check out her blog. I personally love her blog and I am positive you will enjoy it just as much as I do.

Check out her blog here: http://www.kerryshabitat.blogspot.co.uk/
Follow her on Bloglovin': http://www.bloglovin.com/kerryshabitat

I must admit I am rather excited to be able to share my fave beauty picks with you guys, although narrowing my many favourites down to just a few is inevitably going to be quite the task. But anyway, lets get on with the tag!

What is your favourite?...

1 | Moisturiser

I have always been a lover of Nivea, so of course, my favourite moisturiser is by Nivea. Another product with an unnecessarily long name. It's the Nivea Daily Essentials Light Moisturising Day Cream. I love this moisturiser a lot, and if you wish to know more about it; take a look at my review of it here

2 | Foundation

As you may or may not know, I don't actually wear foundation. However, that being said - I do love BB Cream. So my favourite BB Cream is the Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector for combination to oily skin. Quite a mouthful of a name, I know! I love this BB cream a lot, and it provides just the right amount of coverage for my skin.

3 | Concealer

I love Collection's Lasting Perfection concealer - a lot. The coverage this stuff gives is insane! Works perfectly for blemishes, dark circles, redness - anything, really! Cheap, cheerful, and does its job well. what more can you ask for?

As you can see I am in need of a new moisturiser...

4 | Blush

Again, so many faves to choose from! I love MAC's Blush in the shade Pink Swoon, as it's the perfect pink colour that can be built up to give as much colour pay off as required. Perfect for everyday use.

5 | Bronzer

I love, love, love the Nars Laguna bronzer. It gives such a perfect bronzed look for my skin tone, without making me look too orange or 'muddy'. Again, it can be built up as you please, making it very versatile and suitable for a wide range of skin tones.

6 | Eye Shadow

MAC's Woodwinked. It's a no brainer. My all time favourite eye shadow, hands down. If you haven't tried this eye shadow yet, then I highly recommend you do. Especially if you have blue eyes! I love this eye shadow so much that I even felt it warranted a whole blog post to itself. If you feel intrigued about this eye shadow, or want to read about how much I adore it, then go ahead and take a look at the post for yourself here:

7 | Mascara

This is a toughie. I have so many favourite mascaras! But right now, I am loving the Benefit They're Real mascara. It stays put all day, it's waterproof, and it gives you super long lashes. Bingo!

8 | Eye Liner

Rimmel's Exaggerate Eye Liner. This black liquid liner is perfect for those of you like me who don't always have the steadiest hand when it comes to eye liner. It's easy to control, easy to apply, and looks great. It has amazing staying power, too, and doesn't smudge/wipe away easily.

9 | Lipstick

Argh! I really can't choose for this one. I love so many lipsticks! I love MAC's Pink Plaid, and also the Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in the Shade 111 Kiss Of Life.

Read about my fave MAC lippies here:
And read my Kate Moss lipstick review here:

10 | Lip Balm

Maybelline Baby Lips. My favourite from the range is 'Hydrate', which is the one with the blue packaging.

11 | Shampoo & Conditioner

Recently, I have been loving the John Frieda Frizz-Ease range. I have tried a few different ones from the line, including the set aimed at curly hair, the set for hydrating your hair, and just the regular 'straight ahead' set - despite the fact my hair isn't straight, haha! At the moment I am using the regular shampoo, along side the hydrating conditioner. I am really impressed with the Frizz-Ease range, and will continue to use it for a long while.

13 | Hairspray

I love the Elnett hairsprays. I'm not fussy as to which one - just which ever one I happen to have at that time.

So there you have it - my favourite products. I added a few questions here and there (bronzer, lipstick and lip balm) as I wanted to change up the tag a little. If you would like me to do further reviews for any of the products mentioned, then go ahead and leave a request in the comments. I tried to link any reviews of the mentioned products that I have already posted, but I understand I haven't reviewed all of the above products on my blog yet. Another huge thanks to Kerry for being so kind and tagging me to do this.

I tag ALL of you to do this tag, as I love seeing what products other people love and rave about. If you do this tag yourself, then leave me a link in the comments and I will be sure to give them a read.

Thanks for reading!

Your Suggestions & Blog Schedule

Blogging about what products I am loving at the moment and reviewing makeup is all well and good, but this blog is as much yours as it is mine, therefore I must ensure my blog content is enjoyable for you all to read. I often sit and ponder what I should blog about next, and spend countless hours filling notebooks with all of my blog ideas. I really want my blog to be of the best quality it can be, and this means asking you lovely readers what kind of posts you love, and what you would like to see more of here on Mollie Jess Blog. Whether it be reviews, current favourites, fashion posts, photos from days out - I'm open to a wide range of ideas and requests. Therefore, I would greatly appreciate if you left me a little comment including two things.

1. What posts you like reading on my blog.

2. What kind of posts you would like to see more of.

You have no idea how much it would help me if you did so.

Also, I have been spending some time trying to figure out a schedule for my blog. I must admit I have hit a few hurdles on this point, as I want to make sure I upload on a regular and steady basis, without setting a goal that is too optimistic. I have to juggle my blogging with my school work, therefore uploading every day isn't really possible for me. I also want to ensure blogging remains enjoyable for me all the time - after all, blogging is a hobby and shouldn't be something you feel pressured to do. It was then that I decided I would continue to upload as I have been doing; fairly regularly (2/3 times a week) and as for which days - completely spontaneously. That's the best way, right? All I would say is (usually) expect a post at the start of the week, the middle and the end. This is what I am aiming for and I would like to offer you my sincerest apologies in advance if I happen to fail miserably in doing this.

Sorry this post was a little random, but I have been meaning to ask you guys for a while about your views and opinions on where Mollie Jess Blog should go in the future. Please do leave me a comment below letting me know what you think.
Thank you for all of your support! Speak soon!

Miracle Hair Oil | Review

After deciding I was fed up with living with dry and slightly damaged hair, I took it upon myself to try out a hair oil. However, I couldn't quite bring myself to splurge for the ever-so-famous Moroccan oil, and so I began my search for a cheaper option. I tried serums and oils that I loved but none quite as much as this one. My lovely mother actually picked this up from Aldi one day for us both to try, and as you can imagine, it was quite the bargain; retailing at somewhere around the £4 mark. I believe this hair oil is also available to purchase at the tills in Primark, in smaller tube-type bottles. If you wish to try this oil out but don't desire such a big bottle, then the smaller ones from Primark would be ideal, as well as being perfect for travelling.

I have been using this oil for about 3 weeks or so, and I absolutely adore it. I have naturally curly/wavy hair, and it sometimes has the tendency to go a little frizzy and, well... wild. This hair oil works miracles for controlling frizz, which I'm sure will be music to your ears if you are looking for something to tackle your hair's wild side. It has also made my hair considerably softer and smoother, giving it added bounce and volume.

I apply this oil to my hair once I get out of the shower, having shampooed and conditioned my hair as normal. I towel dry my hair a little first, before massaging the oil through the lengths of my hair, paying particular attention to the ends.

My hair is very spontaneous, and seems to look different each day. One day it will be full of ringlets, and the next day more of a mass of waves. This makes mornings both exciting and challenging for me, as I never quite know what to expect from my hair when I wake up. personally, I prefer it when my hair is curlier with a few ringlets, as it looks healthier and bouncier. I have found this oil to be great for keeping my hair consistently this way, which is fabulous. Since it brings out the best of my natural hair, which just so happens to be curly, I am presuming it will bring out the best in naturally straight, wavy, or any other hair, too.

The bottle claims to be suitable for all hair types, and also says it strengthens, smoothes, and seals shine in hair. I would definitely give my nod of approval for each of these statements, as the hair oil does all of the above exceptionally well.

If there was on thing I could suggest as an area of improvement for this product, it would be the bottle design. The bottle itself it lovely, with a pretty teal-ish label printed onto a brown tinted glass bottle. However, its the way the product dispenses that bothers me. The dispenser part is basically a flat piece of plastic with a small hole in the middle of it; enabling the product to pour out... well, I say pour, it's more of a 'shake the bottle violently until a smidge of oil eventually dribbles out' kind of action. Basically, you have to shake the bottle around a few times before you get the coin-sized amount in the palm of your hand that is needed. This hasn't proved to be too big of a bother in the grand scheme of things, and isn't something that would bring me to the point where I stop using the product.

Overall, I love, love, love this hair oil a lot. If you have been looking for a hair oil dupe for Moroccan Oil, then definitely give the Miracle Oil a whirl; or even if you just fancy trying it out - go for it! I highly recommend this product and will continue to sing its praises to anyone and everyone in the future.

10 Reasons to Love Autumn/Fall

Sometimes, its nice to type up fun little babbly posts that aren't planned, a spur of the moment kind of thing, I guess. So when thinking what I should write about today, it became apparent that after flicking through my social media sights, everybody seems to be loving the fact that Autumn is upon us. Thats when the idea enlightened me that I should do a little write up about why I love Autumn. So here you have it - 10 Reasons why I love Autumn. Hurray!

1) Fresh, crisp leaves on the ground. (Its just so satisfying to shuffle amongst them in your Winter boots!)

2) Hot drinks - particularly the Starbucks ones. Oh, and Nutella hot chocolate. Boy is that tasty.

3) Hats, Scarves, and Cosy Jumpers.

4) Its the season before Winter, and you know what Winter means... That's right, Christmas. "It's the most wonderful time of the year" (that phrase couldn't be more true.)

5) Halloween! Dressing up, spooky makeup, copious amounts of sweets/candy, pumpkin carving, you know the drill.

6) Autumn Candles. All you candle lovers out there will be able to relate. Nothing like cosying up with a hot drink and a pumpin candle, or something of the sort.

7) Cosy socks - it can't just be me who loves having warm tootsies.

8) Orange and Red lipstick. Probably my two favourite shades to wear on my lips - and Autumn is an ultimate excuse to wear them constantly. Yipee!

9) Bonfire Night! Now being honest here, I'm not the biggest fan of fireworks, but I still enjoy watching them from behind the safety of a winow or glass door. Haha! As for bonfires, I can't guarantee I would get close to one of those either... In case you haven't guessed I have quite a long-lived fear of fire. But nevertheless, gathering with family and friends for bonfire night is still good fun!

10) Autumn Walks. Skipping through the freshly fallen leaves with a camera in hand for blog photography? Yes please!

Thumbs up for Autumn!

So there we go. These are just a few of my favourite things about Autumn. What do you love about the Autumn/Fall season? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading!

More Northern Ireland Scenery

Recently, I posted a few scenic snaps from a summer trip to Northern Ireland. I was fortunate enough to be able to go back to Northern Ireland over the weekend, and have even more photos to share with you this time. I adore this place to bits, and I always have such good fun whenever we visit. If you ever get the chance, I would strongly encourage you to pay Northern Ireland a visit, as the scenery is truly breath taking. These photos are mainly from Tollymore Forest Park and Island Hill. Oh, and whilst we visited Tollymore, they just so happened to be filming for a movie... The new Dracula film I believe. We were able to have a gander at the film sets which looked to be rather interesting. I am proud to say I have now officially been on a film set. Hurray! Anyway, enough babbling, lets get on with the photos.

My little cousin Megan strutting her stuff across the bridge!

Caveman carvings? I think so.

Mid-walk selfie? Why not ey?!

This tree has multiple eyes... Ooh creepy!

Roy and Anne enjoying the sea... Haha!

Why hello there Mr Caterpillar!

My cousin Becky and I (I'm on the right!)

My cousin Caitlin and I (I'm on the left!)

Here are the photos I quickly snapped of the movie set... I go into paparazzi mode when you hand me a camera!

Showing my appreciation for the first signs of Autumn, yay!

Thank you for reading, or gandering, should I say. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip and look forward to the next time!
